Randy Gerstmyer has been an independent publisher and businessman for 30 years. While attending the University of Maryland, College Park, he launched his first business enterprise near the campus. He later became the Food Service Director of The German Children's Home in Catonsville, Maryland. For the past 30 years, he has held key positions with CTI Publications, Inc., a 131 year old Baltimore based firm that was the publisher of a monthly trade journal for the processed fruit and vegetable industry, as well as the publisher of over 15 technical reference books to the industry. Mr. Gerstmyer purchased CTI Publications in 1988, and grew the technical book publishing line to over 100 titles distributed worldwide. He has extensive experience in business management, including all facets of operations, sales, marketing, financing, production, AR/AP and human resources.
In his career and life he has developed a strong personal work ethic, goaloriented problem solving skills, and keen attention to deadlines and details. Randy has a lifelong avocation for planning and managing building projects, and for overseeing facilities maintenance projects. Along with his wife Nancy, he has built three homes where their two children were raised. He has also served as President of the Guard Society for the Food Industries, Director of the Food Processing Machinery and Supplies Association, and is a prior Senior Warden of St. John's Episcopal Church, Western Run Parish.
Lindsay Gerstmyer is a 2002 graduate of Washington College who excelled in field hockey and lacrosse. During her senior year she did a stint in Public Relations for the fashion house of Nicole Miller in New York City. Her junior year took her to London for a semester.
After graduation she obtained a position with Strategix Advertising, Baltimore, Maryland as traffic coordinator, moving through the ranks to become an account executive before taking a position with Herrmann Advertising Design/Communications in Annapolis, Maryland.
At Herrmann she managed the creative development of national, regional and local accounts in a variety of industries including legal, construction, education, non-profit, hospitality, restaurant and financial services. In that position she worked closely with creative directors, designers, media directors and the print manager to provide direction and relay client feedback to ensure client satisfaction. She also coordinated and managed media research, planning, negotiations, trafficking, reconciliation and billing Lindsay grew up in Ashland, Virginia and currently resides with her husband on Kent Island.
Jane Scott is the author of Between Ocean and Bay: a Natural History of Delmarva, and Field and Forest, A guide to Native Plant Communities for Gardeners and Naturalists. She lives in Chestertown and is the Managing Editor of Chesapeake Times.
Matthew Tobriner is a retired nuclear/mechanical engineer, now applying his skills to sailboat racing, home improvement, cat maintenance and various community activities in Chestertown and DC.
Sue Klomanhas gardened in upstate New York, and Washington, DC. She now lives at Heron Point, Chestertown where she maintains a vegetable plot in the community garden and grows all manner of flowers, shrubs and trees around her cottage.
