It is hard to believe we are already in the month of July. Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday I was opening Christmas presents and celebrating the New Year. In the fast paced world we live in, we tend to rush through our daily routines to get to the next item on our list. Sometimes it’s nice to slow down, take a deep breath and truly enjoy our beautiful surroundings.

As I have known since attending Washington College, the Eastern Shore of Maryland is a beautiful and special place to live. I’ll never forget one of my first dates with my husband. We rented a small boat from the Washington College boat house and we took a leisurely boat ride up the Chester River. It was a beautiful, relaxing day where it seemed baiting our hooks with worms was the most stressful part of our trip. Every now and then my fishing rod would “zing” and I reeled in a nice sized catfish. While floating on the river we enjoyed all the sights and sounds the river offered, from the occasional crab floating by to the blue heron perched on the shore line to the faint ripples of the current. We didn’t have a care in the world. This is just one way to enjoy a quiet, stress-free afternoon. On the Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland though, the possibilities are endless.
